OUR CULTURE

factor in everything that is successful. Lacrosse is no different. Our players are expected to work
when they are tired, work when they are sick of it."

CHERRY CREEK MENTORING PROGRAM
In the fall of 2009 Cherry Creek High School Boy’s Lacrosse developed a mentoring program for kids
involved in our program. The program involves our juniors being assigned an incoming freshman to
help become accustomed to the rigors of both the academic and athletic demands placed upon our
students. It provides a resource of knowledge and experience to our new players and helps gives
every young man a “big brother” at Cherry Creek High School. The Mentor relationship will continue
for two years as the freshmen become sophomores and the juniors become seniors. We are confident
however, that these relationships will last much longer.
The goals are twofold. First, to provide resource for our incoming freshmen to draw upon, and second
to provide a much needed, leadership opportunity to all of our juniors. As we say, leadership is a
learned skill and something that we feel is very important to impart on all of our players as they
venture into life.
The results have been excellent, as our freshmen, aided by their mentors, have developed a
resounding sense of community and pride. They have demonstrated a tremendous work ethic and
enthusiasm that will only grow as they move forward in their athletic and academic career.
Our juniors are learning to look outside of themselves and help themselves by helping and leading
others. As we move into next year, this program will be refined and expanded and we look for even
better results from future generations of Bruin Lacrosse players.
