HISTORY
Cherry Creek Lacrosse began in 1966 with Bob Hiester as its first coach. Cherry Creek was one of the
original 8 teams in the newly formed RMHSLA which also featured: Colorado Academy, Denver Country Day,
Denver South High School, Adams City High School, Englewood High School, George Washington High
School, and Denver East High School.
In 1975 Cherry Creek won its first State Championship under the direction of Coach Mike Woolford. Coach
Woolford would win 5 more state titles through the early 1990s. He was followed by longtime English
teacher and JV coach Tom Fair who coached until 1998, winning the state championship in 1995. Steve
Jenkins coached next at Creek for two years, and then Brenden McWilliams took over, coaching the team
to second place in 2001 and a state championship in 2002. Bruin Alumni Bryan Perry became coach in 2003
and has led the Bruins ever since, posting championships in 2005, 2006, and 2010.
Besides 11 State Championships, 23 All-Americas, and many All-State awards, the Cherry Creek program has
had several Doc Stabler award winners (top Scholar-Lacrosse Player in Colorado), and has sent a steady
stream of players to top Division I, II, III, and Club programs across the country. As a perennial, nationally
top-ranked school for its academics, Cherry Creek proudly produces strong graduating classes of student
athletes.
